چکیده
A simple and easy-to-handle semi-analytical model able to describe heat transport in heterostructures of length varying from the nano microscale is presented. It consists redefining three intrinsic parameters: ballistic thermal conductance, effective conductivity, interface conductance by using two temperatures T+ T? distinguishing phonon populations according direction their velocities instead standard pseudo-temperature T. The resulting agrees well with temperature profiles predicted advanced Monte Carlo simulation all regimes, i.e. diffusive, ballistic, quasi-ballistic even presence multiple interfaces. provide new insights into interpretation properties complex nanostructures.

Photoacoustic Technique for Thermal Conductivity and Thermal Interface Measurements
The photoacoustic (PA) technique is one of many techniques for characterizing thermal conductivity of materials, including thermal interface conductance or resistance. Compared with other techniques, the PA method is relatively simple, yet is able to provide accurate thermal conductivity data over a wide range of materials and properties. In the last decade, the PA method has been developed and...
متن کامل[1032] Novel nanoscale method for thermal conductivity measurements
As the downscaling of electronic devices pushes dimensions of its components towards the atomic limits, new measurement tools need to be developed to address new challenges. In particular, nanoscale heat transfer is a key mechanism which is known to limit the performance of nanoscale sized transistors in the processor chips and thus invalidate of a major component Moore’s law of the processor s...
متن کاملReduction of Thermal Conductivity by Nanoscale 3D Phononic Crystal
We studied how the period length and the mass ratio affect the thermal conductivity of isotopic nanoscale three-dimensional (3D) phononic crystal of Si. Simulation results by equilibrium molecular dynamics show isotopic nanoscale 3D phononic crystals can significantly reduce the thermal conductivity of bulk Si at high temperature (1000 K), which leads to a larger ZT than unity. The thermal cond...
متن کاملSpectral mapping of thermal conductivity through nanoscale ballistic transport.
Controlling thermal properties is central to many applications, such as thermoelectric energy conversion and the thermal management of integrated circuits. Progress has been made over the past decade by structuring materials at different length scales, but a clear relationship between structure size and thermal properties remains to be established. The main challenge comes from the unknown intr...
متن کاملRevisiting Thouless conductance formula
It was shown using perturbation theory[1] that Thouless energy Ec for a quantum system scales linearly with the conductance of the system. We derive in an alternate way in 1-D that Ec scales with the conductance in a very different way. We physically show the difference between our approach and that of ref. 1 to expect our results to hold in higher dimensions also. We verify our results with ex...
